Call for poster presentations

The Library Association of the City University of New York (LACUNY)
invites academic, school, public and special librarians to submit
proposals for poster presentations during its annual Institute.

This year's Institute "Information Literacy: Reaching Diverse
Populations" will be held on Friday, May 18, 2001 at the Baruch College
Conference Center at 151 East 25th Street in New York.

The Institute is an all-day event. The morning part of the Institute
will consist of a keynote address by Dr. Lorie Roth on the role of the
information literacy in the college curriculum followed by the panel
discussion on information literacy needs of diverse populations in an
academic setting. There will be hands-on workshops and discussion
sessions in the afternoon on strategic planning issues for information
literacy course, presentation styles, information needs of
multicultural users, course management tools for advanced students,
and many more. Detailed information about the Institute is available on this website.

The time for poster presentations and vendor demonstrations is allocated throughout the whole day of the Institute. We invite everyone to share their experience on teaching information literacy at an urban university with a diverse student body: ESL students, graduate students, people with disabilities, distance education students, adult learners, etc.

Please e-mail a 50-75 word proposal for the poster session to Claudia
Lascar at claudialascar@hotmail.com
by April 25, 2001. Those selected to participate will receive a waiver of the $30 Institute fee.
