RESOLUTION ON LACUNY FOUNDER'S DAY

Whereas, archival records of the Library Association of the City Colleges of New York or LACCNY housed at the archives of City College indicate that the organization was founded on March 17, 1939.

Whereas, at an organizational meeting held on November 14, 1961, the Library Association of the City Colleges of New York or LACCNY changed its name to the Library Association of the City University of New York or LACUNY.

Whereas, the members of the Library Association of the City University of New York (LACUNY) are interested in uncovering information related to its history and will begin to formalize the process through which organizational records are collected and maintained by consulting with the Archivist of City College, Sydney Van Nort and the LACUNY Archives and Special Collections Roundtable.

RESOLVED...On this 15th day of February, 2008, The Executive Council of the Library Association of the City University of New York recognizes March 17th as LACUNY’s Founders’ Day.
